1. Delete it yourself, which is fastest
Sign in and open Account settings. Delete account sits near the bottom of that page.
One confirmation step follows. Password accounts confirm with the password. Accounts made through Google, Facebook or another provider confirm with the email address you registered under. The step is there so that a stray click cannot erase an account.
Deletion runs the moment you confirm. Nobody on our side approves it first.
2. Ask us by email
Write to us when signing in fails, or when you are not sure which account is yours: support@citeangle.com. Sending from the address you registered with makes the identity check quicker.
We delete within five business days, and you hear from us the moment it is done.
3. If you connected a Facebook or Instagram account
Disconnecting an app and deleting data are two different actions. You need both.
Disconnecting happens on Facebook’s side. Open your Facebook settings, go to Apps and Websites, find CiteAngle and remove it.
Deleting what we already hold happens here, through route 1 or route 2 above. Removing the connection only stops new data from arriving; whatever reached us before that is still on our side.
4. What goes and what stays
Your account details, sign-in records, the reports we produced for you and the raw measurements behind them are deleted.
Some records stay. Where a law fixes a retention period, that period governs and the record remains until it expires — payment and tax records are the usual case. When your deletion runs, the screen names every record that remains and the date it clears. The basis for each period is set out in the privacy notice.
Operational backups rotate, so deletion reaches them in about four weeks. Nothing is read back out of a backup in the meantime.
5. Why it is built this way
If the only way out were an email, a person who wants to leave has to wait on a reply from the company they are leaving. The data sits there while the reply is pending, and they never find out exactly when it went.
So deletion runs on the spot, with no approval step, and anything the law makes us keep is named on screen with the date it clears. Handing you the exit is what makes the decision to come in a smaller one.
